Caroline has discovered the toilet! :0) This morning while Granny was getting ready for her doctors appointment, Caroline went in the bathroom to keep her company. We saw her head for the toilet but we wanted to see what she was going to do. She stood up, looked at it and began playing. She splashed water on herself and around the toilet. She had the BIGGEST grin! She thought it was great. Of course I let her play long enough to get pictures and then I put the lid down. She looked at it for a minute and then began using the lid as a drum. After she had had enough with that, she moved over to the bathtub. She tried to pull herself in but it didn't work so she decided to pull the things that she could reach out onto the floor. She had a great time entertaining herself and keeping Granny company...Wednesday, August 26, 2009

50 Weeks!

It's hard to believe that we are just 2 weeks away from Caroline's first birthday! We've had a great week! We are trying to figure out our morning routine-getting dressed, breakfast, getting to Mrs. Jerri's and mommy to school all before 7:15. Caroline's doing a little better getting up but still doesn't like to be rushed. She enjoys taking it slow and gradually waking up. Andy picks Caroline up around 3:15. They come home and enjoy some time together before I get home around 4. It's tough getting home at 4 and having her in bed by 6 or 6:30. But I know it's for the best because she isn't a happy girl without her sleep.

Have a great week! :0)

I love my life!
It was very frustrating because we didn't have a clue what to do. We would get cozy and think we were down for the count and boom, she was screaming and we were getting back up. (Made us appreciate the fact that we normally get a good nights rest with little to no interruptions...) But we must say, there were some really sweet moments in it. She would put her sweet little head on our shoulder and her arms around our neck and hunker down. She would lay on our chest, relax and then sit up to give us her paci-which she thought was very funny. There were times when she would out of the blue "gggrrrooaaaarrr" and laugh.
Our little alarm clock (Caroline) decided to go off at 6 and it wasn't pleasant. She was screaming mad! We fought the urge to stay home from Church. We were struggling but we were glad we were there. Great service, awesome Sunday School. Between the service and SS Andy made a run to Krispy Kreme. Just what I needed to make it through SS. After he handed me my coffee, he went over to the doughnuts that he bought and came back with a glazed chocolate with sprinkles doughnut just for ME! A man after my own heart! God I love him!
We picked Caroline up from the nursery only to find out she had a tough day in there as well. Got her in the car and within two minutes she was OUT! I think the events of the night and morning caught up with her. Let's hope she gets a great nap!
All this said, I am one lucky little lady. I treasure these moments with her. She's growing up so quickly, it makes me a little sad. We don't get too many cuddle moments anymore-she's too busy for that... It was a tough 8 hours but God is good. I have a great husband, a precious little girl... what more could a women want.

49 weeks

If you ask Caroline what the cat says, she will meow. (Thanks to Aunt Tomi Jean and Grace) We've started working on different animal sounds. When we read books like "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you See" we discuss the different animal sounds. Today when we asked her about the tiger she said "gggrrrooooorrrrrrrr." We were both so surprised!!! She was so excited and every time we would ask her, she would make the sound and smile. So sweet! :0)
happy happy girl!

48 weeks
What a week! The hard drive crashed on our computer Saturday night so we are WAY behind!! I lost all my pictures of my sweet baby girl but yeah for the blog! I have the highlights of her first year saved on here!!!!! :0) We enjoyed our last week at home. We ate lunch with some of our besties, partied at the Lake, relaxed, attended our monthly after 5 concert in the park, etc. Busy but oh so much fun.Caroline started Mrs. Jerri's full time yesterday. She was a little hesitant at first but Mrs. Jerri got her playing and all was good. She didn't even turn around to tell me bye. It was a bittersweet moment-leave crying because she's crying or leave sad that my baby is becoming more independent? I must say that I am very happy that she's happy. We really struggled with where to send her when I went back to work and the Lord truly blessed us with Mrs. Jerri. :0) (Along with the fact that she didn't have to go to daycare for the first year-thanks to my WONDERFUL family!!!) I handle taking Caroline in the mornings and Andy picks her up. When he went to pick her up yesterday, Mrs. Jerri asked "Does she make animals sounds?" Andy "Sometimes-when you ask her what the kitty says she meows." Mrs. Jerri "I thought I was going crazy every time we read about the kitty she started meowing..."
Another funny daycare story-Last week Mrs. Jerri had a new baby start. He is 4 months old and is so sweet! When Mrs. Jerri gave him his first bottle, C had a total meltdown-tears, snot, everything. She clung to Mrs. Jerri the entire time. Second bottle, same thing. I think C might have been just a little jealous-what do you think?
Andy's parents have a step down into their den. Caroline has been studing it for a week or so but couldn't figure out how to get up. Well last night she got it. Both hands on top of the step, one leg up then the next. PERFECT! Coming down we thought she was going to face plant on the floor-nope. She put both hands on the floor and then brought one leg down at a time.
Happy Tuesday!

Summer Vacation... does it really have to end?
I have enjoyed watching her wake up every morning. (before you think I am crazy let me explain) She usually plays in her crib for 10-20 minutes before she gets up. She rolls around, stands up, flops down all while chatting the entire time. Once she is "truly" ready to get up, she stands at the end of her crib and chats really loud! When I walk in there, she points to the pictures above her crib and we have to talk about each one. Then we rock for a few minutes and then the day begins. Those are the last moments of calm cuddle time for the day. Once we eats breakfast, she is ready to go 100%.
We play in babyjail a good portion of the day. She will spend a good bit of time in there by herself while I fix and eat my breakfast. After that we play for a little while then it's time for her 1st nap of the day. (9:30 ish) I usually get showered and ready for the day while she is sleeping. Once she gets up, we usually head out for errands or to meet friends for lunch. Once we get home, she's down for her 2nd nap (1 or 1:30) and mommy tries to get one as well. (I haven't been to successful with this...) Once she wakes up, Daddy is home. Daddy usually feeds her at 4 and then they head out for their afternoon walk. This is mommy's time to sit in peace or clean up.
I must say that being a stay at home mom is a lot of work. Especially for "TRUE" stay at home mom's who are responsible for cooking, cleaning, laundry and the kids! There are parts of me that are really sad about going back to work. I have truly enjoyed being with Caroline and would love to be at home with her everyday. However, as I have said before, that's not part of God's plan for us right now. So I have to find joy and excitement in going back to work. I am thankful for Mrs. Jerri! Caroline loves her and loves being around other kids. I do enjoy what I do and I am thankful to have a job. I am thankful that my job will allow me to be home early in the afternoons and still have major holidays off with Caroline.
I wanted to end with a few highlights from our summer.
- Tuesday morning Esther Bible Study! (AMAZING!!!)
- Vacation at the beach-one week with Andy's family and one week with my family
- Meeting friends for lunch and play dates
- Painting our laundry room and Caroline's bathroom
- Spending the day with my baby girl (whatever/whenever that may be???)
- Meeting Ethan Jay
- 2nd annual small group boating trip
- Feeding the ducks at the park
- Swimming at Uncle Greg and Aunt Tomi Jean's
I am sure there are lots more, these were the ones that came to mind. Praise the Lord for the gifts He gives us each and every day. We are so blessed and God is so good to us.

A day on the water with great friends!
Words can not even begin to describe the AMAZING day we had today with our friends at the lake! God is so good. It hit me about half way through the day just how awesome our God is and how blessed we are. There were 5 couples, 2 boats, a set of ski's and an inter tube. The lake was gorgeous and the weather was perfect! We may have seen 5 other boats the entire day. When we got there, we rode in the boats for about 10 or 15 minutes and then anchored. We tied the boats together and jumped in (with life jackets or floating devices). It was so much fun to just float and chat and laugh with each other. We are so blessed to be friends with some amazing couples. It was fun to enjoy each other and not have to worry about ANYTHING! Every once and a while we would feel something creepy on to realize it was someones leg or part of their life jacket. (Growing up on Black River with black water makes you a little creepy.) We each packed a picnic lunch and had lunch around 12. After our lunch settled, the fun really began!!!!One boat stayed anchored while the other boat brought out the water ski's. It's been 8 years or longer since this chick got on water ski's. Even then I was great. But I was SO EXCITED about the opportunity to get up on ski's again! I surprised myself when I got up the very first time. However, I quickly realized how out of shape I was. I didn't last very long but I was so happy to prove to myself that I can still do it... The others were much better. Rhett, Chris, Wes and Sage did some tricks-touching the water with their hands, holding the rope in their elbow, holding the rope between their legs while sitting on their ski's, etc. While that was absolutely amazing, I was just happy to say I got up!
Then we brought out the inter tube. OH MY GOODNESS, I forgot how much fun that one! Wes, Amy, Sage, Charissa and myself were the only ones who gave it a try. We couldn't stop laughing. Wes of course was a little dare devil. He did flips while holding on, which was mighty impressive. Sage wanted to GO FASTER and had a blast until she busted it. She is still feeling that fall! The rest of us just enjoyed a nice, bumpy, water spraying ride. Tubing and contacts don't mix very well... next time I think I might get me some goggles. :0)
Today was one of those days that I will cherish for a very long time. It was a day where we were just people, not mommy's and daddy's, just friends hanging out without any worries! It was so nice not to have to worry about a schedule, feedings, sun screen on anyone else, diaper changes, etc. It was nice to feel like the carefree Rita-I felt like I was in college. What a way to end my summer vacation! Great friends, food and fellowship! Thanks John Van and Chris for providing the boats for our fun day on the water! You guys were great! Thanks to JV and Amy, Rhett and Farrah, Wes and Sage and Chris and Charissa for an amazing day, we love you guys!
