pictures, memories and more

I have been working over the last 5 or 6 months trying to clean out and redo different rooms in our house. I managed to get the bathroom and laundry room done without too much trouble. A few weekends ago, my aunt and uncle came down to help us repaint our den. I finished the curtains and pillows for the couch. Now I am working on pictures for the walls. I came across an old photo book. I remember that it was one I started for my nephew when he was born. However, when I finished it, I noticed there were some pictures in the back cover.

***Emotional Warning...***

As I pulled them out, they brought back some sweet memories It was pictures of my dad with his cancer friends. Daddy spent many weeks in the Drs. office with the same nurses/patients like himself. So on his last day of treatment, he took pictures with his friends, whom he had grown to love so dearly. There was a young man and his friend that Momma and Daddy had really grown fond of. The kid was a junior is High School and his best friend brought him to treatment each week. Daddy talked about how hard it was to see someone so young endure all that he did. And how we admired his friend who was so compassionate. I couldn't imagine spending my afternoons after school taking one of my best friends for CANCER treatment...

The pictures brought back such vivid memories. Daddy was so happy that the treatment was working and he was done! He thanked the Drs. and nurses for everything that they had done for him. Oh what a special day it was.

Little did we know our fight wasn't over just yet. I think of all that Daddy went through after that... Although I know it is selfish, I would do anything to have just one more day in the drs. office, one more night at the hospital, anything just to say I love you one more time.

Enjoy the pictures, cherish the memories and don't forgot to tell the ones you love just how much they mean to you! :0)

What we've been up to

You never know how many people are reading your blog until you don't post for almost a month... I have been asked by several people (and you know who you are) why I haven't updated. Well life has been busy and crazy and good! We've had a lot going on since we returned home from our New Years trip. Andy and I both had to get back into the swing of work and Caroline had to get adjusted to being back at Mrs. Jerri's. I am happy to say we are all doing well but we do miss that sweet family time. Our Christmas vacation together as a family was wonderful!! :0)

It would take forever to update in words everything that's been going on. So I thought I would update using pictures because honestly, that's what everyone wants to see anyway... :0)

Hope you enjoy!

One of the many new hiding places for Caroline!
Sitting at the table like a big girl
First nap on the couch... she got sick a couple of weeks ago. She enjoyed laying on the couch with lovey. It's hard to believe she big enough to be doing this. So sweet!

"What do you mean? But I WANT TO!"

Lounging in her pink chair with her feet up, enjoying her laptop!
Uncle Ed left the top off the paint can and guess who found it. I think she's ready for finger paint...

Enjoying her giraffe rocky horse from B

Loving gogurt (notice how long her hair is getting...)

Caroline's first art experience

Santa heard that Caroline was getting an art easel from her Great (aka Mema). So he decided to bring Caroline some markers/paint brushes (two in one). The holidays were a little crazy so today since we had a little extra time I decided to try them out. She wasn't too sure of them at first but the more we "played" the more excited she got. I stepped away for a second and turned around and saw what I thought was blood! Oh no, she just thought she needed to taste the markers...

We had a great time and I so look forward to working on more masterpieces with her! Thanks Great for such a fun gift! :0)

Snuggle bug

who could think about work when something as sweet as this wants to snuggle??

Got a phone call around 10 from daycare that sweetie pie wasn't feeling well and had a fever of 102. I got my things together and headed out to pick her up. We cane home, had lunch, and enjoyed some good snuggle time on the couch. I loved at one point when she put her head on my lap and stretched out. I am so thankful for these sweet little moments with my little one. The days pass so quickly, every little opportunity is worth a million bucks! :0)

15 month well baby check up, just a little late...

look at what they did to me...

Caroline had her 15 month well baby check up, too bad she is almost 16 months old. Everything went really well. She is right on track! She weighs 26 pounds (90%) and 32 inches tall (90%). She was a perfect angel for Dr. E. She smiled at Dr. E the entire time. However when Mrs. Megan came in for shots, she wasn't so happy. She frowned on the 1st shot, screamed on the 2nd shot and screamed and cried on the 3rd one. It took a good minute or two to calm down. She had a BIG wet spot on Daddy's shoulder. Once dressed, she and Daddy headed home and Mommy paid the bill.

Dr. E was very happy with her development. Teeth are right on track. Brain is great! He gave us some good ideas about how to help with tantrums and decision making. I can't say enough how much we LOVE our pediatrician! He is always so thoughtful and always asks how we are doing before he even looks at Caroline. He always takes the time to answer our questions.

We are very thankful for our precious baby girl!

New Years 2009

We enjoyed our 3rd annual New Years trip to the beach with our friends. The weather was very cold but the company was amazing! Each year we add another family. This year we had 5 couples and 8 kids 4 and under. It was great! The kids really enjoyed playing with each other and the parents enjoyed some much needed down time. Most of the kids were down by 7 and the adults enjoyed yummy meals, great conversations, board games, football, etc. New Years Eve I had one of my very favorite meals-Shrimp and Grits. Our good friend Wes is an amazing cook. He brought us Shrimp and Grits when Caroline was born and they are WONDERFUL! Charissa made chocolate covered Strawberries for dessert. We also had fried Oreos one night, YUMMY but I have a feeling they could be a little fattening...

Wes' (our chief) french toast-YUMMY!

We did get some alone time away from the kids... On New Years Eve the girls got to go see "It's Complicated" while the guys watched the kids. Then on New Years Eve the guys headed out to enjoy college football while the girls stayed at home. It was so nice to enjoy girl time on both occasions! We did manage to get on the beach on New Years. The kids loved running down the beach, chasing each other and seagulls. Other than that, it was just too cold for the kids to get out.

Andy and I look forward to this trip every year! It's a nice, relaxing vacation with not only friend but believers! It's nice to talk about our walk with the Lord, where we are and where we need to be held accountable. We are already thinking about next year... can't wait! Thanks Wes and Sage, Chris and Charissa, John Van and Amy and Stacey and Lia, we had a blast! :0)

Caroline loved running on the beach! Interesting story-when we first walked on the beach, there were TONS of seagulls. Caroline started pointing and said "Duck-quack..." She was calling them birds by the time we left.

Love this view of my sweetie!

"Man I love this place, SO MUCH FUN!"
