So thankful this precious little girl calls me Mommy! We had a wonderful day! My husband did a wonderful job of serving me and gave me most of the day off! It was wonderful! Several times throughout the day, Caroline would walk over, give me a hug and kiss and say "Happy Mothers Day!" Obviously she doesn't really understand what it means because she was telling Pop, Jack and Uncle Greg Happy Mother's Day too. :0) However, I sure did love getting some sweet loving from her and am so thankful for the loving little girl she is. She really does have a BIG heart!
I don't know about you guys but I always go into things with
expectations...BIG expectations. How I think the day should go...what I
deserve...what I need. Today was no different. I wanted to sleep in, yet CSX called at 5:45 am. Since I was already awake, with no chances of going back to sleep, I hoped to enjoy some quiet time alone, but the princess got up at 6. You know how you get the feeling, man this is going to be a bummer of a day...ok so maybe I am the only selfish one out there who thinks this way...:0)
Just then my sweet hubby came to the rescue and took over. Got her breakfast, washed her hair, got her dressed, etc. As I was getting showered and ready for the day, enjoying my alone time, my thoughts drifted to our pastors sermon last week "What do you See?" I realized that I was choosing to see all the things in my day that weren't going according to my plans. I then began to think about my Aunt Donna, who would be spending mothers day without one of her very own children...I thought about our friend Rose who would be spending the day with her sweet boy at MUSC...I thought about a young family in our church who lost their mother several years ago due to cancer...man, I soon realized I had a choice to make...do I see the things that aren't going according to my plans or do I see the awesome gifts the Lord has blessed me with and what a beautiful day it was!
As I decided to look at the goodness in my life, I thought about how far we have come and how much God has worked in our lives over the past four years. Four (short) years ago today, I remember very vividly the sadness I felt as another Mother's day came to pass and we still didn't have a little one of our own. I couldn't understand what in the world God was doing. WHY? That's all I could think...WHY me Lord? WHY don't I have a little one to celebrate this day with? Little did we know God was about to move in a BIG way in our lives! We were about to be introduced to our earthly angel God was using to bring us the greatest gift ever! This morning, one of the very first texts I received was from our birth mom. She said "Happy Mothers Day to one of the very best moms I know!" Tears whelmed in my eyes as I thought about her being all alone this Mother's day while I celebrated with the most precious gift ever-my sweet Caroline. As I have said many times before, we are blessed with an amazing birth mom! So thankful for her. As you read this today, please say a special prayer for her-thanking God for her love for Caroline as well as strength to continue to move forward.

After church, we headed off to celebrate with my mom and sister-in-laws. So thankful for these ladies and precious children! As usual the kids had fun playing together! Again my sweet hubby served the ladies by cleaning up the kitchen while we chatted! What a great man!
We got home around 4:30 so we had about an hour before we met Andy's family at Outback. We laid around the house, did a few things and then headed out. The meal was super yummy and it was great to celebrate Andy's mom, sister, aunts and Mema.
So thankful for family, especially our little family. This mother's day I am blessed to be the mom of a beautiful, healthy, spunky, passionate, caring, LOVING little girl! Thank you Jesus for trusting ME with this little angel who calls me MOMMY! :0)
