Sunday Fun Day

Today we got to celebrate one of Caroline's sweet friends birthday.  Ella (aka Merida) had a fun party in her backyard.  The weather was beautiful and the kids had so much fun playing together!!

Super Saturday

As if yesterday wasn't enough fun, we tried to pack more fun into today!!!  We started with a boat trip with our friends on the lake.  This was Caroline's first time on a boat.  The girls couldn't wait until they could jump in...they were champs!  Notice there aren't any picture of the parents in the water with them!!
jumping in for the first time
two cutie puties
having a blast!!!!
Catherine was the first one on the tube
Caroline eagerly followed!  Reminded me of a portion of the Little Rascals movie...all you could see most of the time were her eyes and the top of her head

What happened about 5 minutes after we got in the car
After some quiet time at home, we were out the door again to celebrate Jack and Grace's birthday.  Hard to believe these kiddo's are 12!!!!!  So thankful for them!

Fun Friday

I am LOVING the beautiful fall weather we are having these days!  The mornings are super cool, the middle of the day is nice and the evening temps drop pretty quickly.  Today we tried to get out and enjoy as much of this beautiful day as we could.

started with a card game of War
Then headed to the park to play with Tyler and Nori

sweet Nori
Then we headed downtown for Friday's downtown.  I think half of the city was there...it was packed!  We saw lots of sweet friends-young and old!

The things she says...

  • "Hey Momma, I am going to Pop and Peeps today because I think you need some time to yourself!"
  • While reading a book, before reading the next page she smiled and said "Oh this is what we like to do... "I like to shop!"
  • "Mommy so you won't miss me while I am at school and so that you won't be lonely while I am gone, here's a lovey to remind you of me and keep you company!"
  • Cleaning her room, she was easily distracted...I said "I am gonna get daddy in here if you don't start helping me."  She said "Good cause when daddy is in here, he helps me A LOT and we are super fast.  DADDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Candy Corn

In the last year or so, Andy and I have tried REALLY hard to cut out a lot of processed foods.  But these little babies, as bad as I know they are for me, just haven't made the cut yet...I LOVE THEM!  My daughter was a candy corn for Halloween for heavens sake!

My sweet Mema knows that these are by far my favorite 'holiday' treat.  (She even made my corn bag out of candy corn material!!!)   About this time every year, she has these yummies sitting out in her candy dish...yall I can't help myself!  I love them!! And to make things even worse better she buys me my OWN bag to bring home!!!  Somehow it's easier to justify when I don't pay for them myself...you know "I have to eat these because they were a gift!!!!"

Yep you guessed it, she sent my bag of candy home with the hubs Monday night and sadly I am enjoying EVERY.SINGLE.PIECE!  I am rationing however and try to only eat a few each day-a few for breakfast, a few for lunch, a few for dinner! HA  Love my Mema!!

5 year well visit

Yes I know, it is SO hard for me to believe that my girl is 5!!!  This getting older is bittersweet.  But the sweet part is that she is healthy!  And thankfully she is right where she is supposed to be.  Shortly after our 4 year well visit with our wonderful, favorite pediatrician, we found out that he was leaving his current practice and going into a leadership role with local residents.  We were bummed for ourselves but really happy for him as it gave him a much better life with his family.  Thankfully Caroline hasn't had to go to the dr since that visit but the time had come and we had to see a new dr in a new practice.  Well ladies and gentlemen, the Lord provided once again.  We absolutely LOVED our new doctor.  He took a lot of time talking with Caroline and playing with her.  He talked to "her" when he asked questions and I loved that!  It was a very thorough visit-vision, blood pressure, urine sample.  (which I had to bribe her to do the urine sample-she looked at the cup, looked and me and said "what do you want me to do with that?")  The new office gives children a book at each visit and Caroline was thrilled to get a new book.

As I said earlier, Caroline is right on tract for where she needs to be.  Here is the breakdown:
  • 43 pounds (75th %)
  • 46 inches tall (90th %)
  • BMI (Body Mass Index) didn't give us the percentage but said she couldn't be more on target if she tried!

Jokes on ME!!!!

I was so very proud of my clever plan to keep Caroline's room clean...well folks the joke is on me!  Someone has discovered that her tent is an easy storage/quick clean up!  Oh well, guess I will start checking the castle as well as the room!!

Fun weekend with friends

We had a fabulous weekend!!  Caroline's friend Catherine spent the weekend with us while her parents were away.  Caroline's classroom pet Mudge also spent the weekend with us.  FUN, FUN, FUN!!!

Friday started with a date night for Andy and I.  We headed to the local theater to see "Les Miserables."  It was wonderful!!!  Long but wonderful!  Saturday we enjoyed the beautiful day outside.  I stained Caroline's swing set which is something we have needed to do for a while!  It took a little longer than I thought but thankful it is done.  Saturday afternoon we celebrated the last day of summer with a swimming play date with Griffin and Gray.  Saturday evening we went out to eat for Uncle Greg's birthday...how in the world did I forget my camera????  Today we enjoyed a morning at church and then an afternoon outside.  The weather here has been gorgeous!!!  Oh how I look forward to beautiful fall days!!

quick photo with Mudge

The girls LOVED the battery operated 4 wheeler
This kid is amazing!!  He asked us to spell words, at least 5 letters.  He would write them and then tell us what they were and what they meant.  Even Spanish words!!  Love this kid!!!
Gray almost bumped Caroline off the seesaw
 Outside fun with Mudge

 This pup is tired!
 Sweet friends
Thankful for a fun weekend...gotta feeling momma will be in bed early tonight!

It's hard going to school every day

After school, we headed over to Mema's for lunch.  On the way home, Caroline fell asleep.  I brought her in, put her on the couch and she slept for 2 hours!!!  AND she was ready for bed shortly after 8.  I guess going to school 5 days a week is tough!!
