Community Egg Hunt

This morning our church sponsored a community egg hunt in a local park.  Maggie had a fabulous time!  Her sweet friend Eden Caroline came to the hunt as well which made it super special.  Caroline was so sad to miss but was super excited when we brought her home a bag full of eggs.  (thanks Mrs. Lia)

Good Friday...sick kiddo

Wednesday morning, Caroline was slow to get moving.  However, she ate breakfast and came around.  She had a great day at school.  Once home from school, she got on the couch and fell asleep.  Not a typical move for her...She went to bed early but woke up around midnight with a 100 grade temp.  I didn't give her motrin or anything and she woke up fever free.  However, she just wasn't herself so I kept her home from school.  Once again, after lunch, she took a long nap.  When she woke up, she looked weak.  I took her temp and it was 104!!!  With Spring Break and the holiday weekend ahead of us I wanted to get her checked.  Strep has been going around her class so I thought that was what was going on...never in a MILLION years did I expect Dr. E to tell us she had the FLU!

Caroline had a friends birthday party tonight that she was super excited about.  She looked at Dr. E and said "I just have one question...will I be able to go my friend McCall's birthday party tomorrow at 6?"  Of course the answer was no and bless her heart, tears formed in her eyes...broke my heart!  She's done extremely well and is a super sweet patient!  Praying this sickness leaves soon and that the rest of us stay well!

Decorating Spring Cookies

For our spring celebration at school, parents are asked to send cookies in to enjoy after the performance.  We enjoy making cookies and thought we would take it up a notch and make real iced cookies.  We found a very simple recipe that was easy to make.  We used a ziploc bag and cut the tip.  We learned that we really need to use a decorating tip to outline the cookies to make it a more defined outline.  They didn't look too terrible and all were eaten at the celebration!  And as an educator we say it's more about the process than the final product!! We had fun!

Icing Recipe:
  • 1 box powder sugar
  • 2 tsps vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup warm water, add a little bit more until you reach the right consistancy

Spring Celebration

Today we had our Spring Celebration at school.  Our 3k, 4k and 5k classes perform several spring songs.  Maggie had a blast and sand her sweet little heart out!  It was precious!  I love that my job allows me a front row seat (literally) watching our little girl blossom!

Morning Conversation

I've told yall this kids is a wild sleeper and can sleep anywhere.  I'm amazed...anyway this morning she had a rough morning.  She was in timeout before 7am.  Here's how it went down.

Me: Mags do you know why you were in timeout?
Mags: Yes ma'am I'm in a good and I pitched a fit.
Me: Yep.  Is there anything you would like to say?
Mags: Can I go back to sleep?

Me thinking to myself, bless it!!

Carline nap for Momma

Maggie and I had to run a few errands before carline.  They didn't take as long as we thought they would but we didn't have time to come home.  Of course Maggie fell asleep on the way there.  I tried to read like I normally do but I could not keep my eyes open.  So I grabbed Caroline travel pillow and set the alarm on my phone.  So thankful I did because when my alarm went off I didn't have a clue what was going on. :-)  I felt so much better!!!!

Grilling with Daddy

The girls were super excited to help Daddy grill pork chops for dinner.  I love that Maggie is standing on her tippy toes in order to reach the pork chops.

McCall's Ballet Performance

Caroline was gifted with a ticket to see her sweet friend McCall in the Cinderella ballet.  Caroline was super excited that she was invited by her sweet teacher to go.  We absolutely adore Mrs. Smith and these three girls adore each other.  Sweet friends and sweet memories!

PS-Mrs. Smith said the girls chatted the whole time they were in the car.  Caroline looked at her friend Kylie and said "Hey did your mom make you wash your hair to come to the ballet?  Mine did!"

Unexpected trip

I had to make a trip out of town for work.  I knew I would be pushing it to make it back in time to get Caroline out of school.  So I signed her out early and we headed out of town.  I dropped the laminator off to be repaired and we headed to the zoo.  Our membership expired in February however, we still have 9 guest passes so we had them printed.  We used 3 yesterday.  I absolutely love the fact that no matter how many trips we make to the zoo, the girls are always super excited!  I was surprised at how many folks were there at 2pm in the afternoon.  I loved that a sweet couple offered to take our picture...I hesitated and told them we were good...I don't always like seeing myself in pictures...they insisted and I'm glad they did!  Love the picture with the girls!  So thankful for a sweet day with them.  However, when we got home, I was DONE!  WIPED OUT!  No good for the rest of the day!! :-)

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Today we enjoyed lots and lots of green things as we celebrated St. Patrick's Day.  We started the day with green pancakes and green milk.  We played outside and planted new flowers and ferns.  (green plants)  Caroline used sidewalk chalk to draw a rainbow with a leprechaun trying to get to the pot of gold. The girls spent a few hours with Granny while And and I caught up on things at the house.  We ended the day with fresh, hot green glazed doughnuts from KK.

Grocery Shoping

I needed to pick up a few quick items from the grocery store.  Maggie saw these super cute buggies for the first time and just had to have one.  SHE WAS SO EXCITED!!!!!!  It had already been a fantastic day...she was wearing her favorite rain boots, her new Shopkin's sweatshirt from Nori and she had her purse!!!  Pretty sure it was an almost perfect day in her book!

2017 Blog Books

So I just realized that I forgot to post this past years blog books.  I was actually on top of things this year, driving by the 35% off sale that ended January 7, and received these books the last week in January.  Once again I had to order 2 books for the year, a total of 4 books.  A few years ago they limited the number of pictures that you could include.  (1,500)  I thought I was doing a great job keeping up with the total pictures I posted however, I was almost 150 over...how do you decide who gets deleted????

Maggie's Art Exhibit

Tonight we had our second annual Art Exhibit at Maggie's school.  She had a fabulous time and was so excited to show off her 3K work.  Daddy and Sissy were there but we somehow managed not to get a picture of all of us.

Mantle Fun

Last fall, I decided that I would decorate our mantle for each season.  Some seasons are easier to decorate than others.  However, Hobby Lobby makes it pretty easy and affordable to find things to decorate with.  I wish I had taken pictures of my other mantles but I didn't think about it.  The girls have enjoyed the fun decorations and notice almost immediately when I change things out.

Saturday Fun

Today was absolutely gorgeous!!!!  Perfect outdoor weather with the exception of the pollen.  A sweet friend of mine had a big fundraiser planned and we had hoped to make it to the event.  However, things outside of our control came up and we weren't able to make it.  I was pretty bummed but tried to just go with the flow.  The girls enjoyed the day playing together.  We spent an hour at my school letting the girls play.  We came home and they headed outside while I caught up on ironing.  It was a sweet day...it wasn't the day I planned, but I think it was the day we needed and for that I am thankful!

Friday Night Family Fun Night

We enjoyed a fun Friday night under the lights at a USC baseball game.  The girls were excited to get a picture with Cocky!  Being a softball girl, I love baseball!  I hope we are able to catch a few more games this season!

Celebrating 37!!

Y'all I am pretty sure that birthday #37 might have been the very best one yet!!!  So many friends and family took time to celebrate my special day with me.  My hubby and girls decorated the house with balloons and banners.  Caroline and Andy brought me beautiful flowers.  My mom fixed my favorite foods for lunch on Sunday.  Andy planned a surprise date on Saturday night.  I didn't have to cook for 3 days in a row thanks to folks taking me out to dinner.  It was fabulous.  For me, birthday's are the one day that belongs to you and you alone.  I don't care about material gifts.  I love the cheesy fun things that celebrate me.  My family and friends went above and beyond celebrating me!  To me, they are the greatest gifts I could ever receive!!
