Prom dress shopping

Today I got to enjoy a day with 3 sweet, giddy girls prom dress shopping.  We left home around 9.  We picked up coffee and drove to Charleston to look at lots of different dress options. On the ride there, they filled me in on all the latest "tea" aka gossip for us old folks.  The girls were hilarious.  I'm grateful that they talk openly in front of me and even ask me my thoughts and opinions.  :-)  What a gift that I get a front row seat of this sweet season in their lives.  And the best news of the day...we found a PROM dress for Caroline and MccCall!!  We can't wait to see these girls all dressed up for prom!!

Another one bites the dust...

Well my mothers intuition was correct...something wasn't right yesterday and it hit today.  Mags woke up with fever and a yucky cough that just wouldn't let up.  Andy took her in just to make sure she didn't have anything.  Thankfully everything was negative.  So now to give her plenty of fluids and try to treat her symptoms.  So to the couch with all of her favorites: a cozy blanket, her pillows and a Sonic slush.  She's slept a lot so far and I pray she can continue.  I know rest is best.

Sunday morning at home

It's not very often that we are in town and not at church on a Sunday morning.  However, this morning, Maggie just wasn't herself.  She didn't have fever but she just wasn't herself.  So we decided I would stay at home with her.  I watched church through the live view on YouTube.  I'm so thankful for the opportunity to still hear the word preached even when I couldn't be there in person.  While online is a great option, it just isn't the same as being with everyone in person.  I'm grateful for our church family!!

Sweetheart Dance

Maggie enjoyed her second dance with her daddy this year.  Her school hosted a sweetheart dance...mom and sons, daddy and daughter.  She was so excited to take her daddy to school to meet her friends.  They went to Olive Garden before the dance.  Then at the dance, they enjoyed the photo booth, treats and a little dancing.  Another night, another reason to dress up!

Congratulations Maggie!!

Last Thursday Caroline took Maggie to her middle school fine arts interview.  Today we received notification that Maggie was accepted in the visual arts academy for next year.  Visual arts is her gift and we can't wait to watch her accel!!!

Daddy Daughter Dance

Last year time got away from me and I didn't reserve a ticket for the daddy daughter dance...Maggie hasn't let me forget it.  She asked for several months if I knew the date and when the tickets would go on sale.  So I made sure to ask one of my school families whose mom was on the committee to be sure to let me know when tickets went on sale. She did and I'm pretty sure I was one of the very first to purchase a ticket.

Maggie was thrilled!  She couldn't wait for the dance!  She found her dress on Amazon and fell in love with it when it came in.  She knew what purse she wanted to take, what shoes she wanted to wear and how she wanted me to fix her hair.  Sadly Caroline was sick and couldn't join them.  I'm not to sure that Maggie was super sad because that meant that that meant that she got her daddy all to herself and got to make all the decisions.

They had lots of fun.  Danced the night away and got to enjoy dessert from Cold Stone Creamery.  They both enjoyed themselves and the time together!  Our girls are blessed to have a sweet daddy that loves to spend time with them.

Sick Kiddo

This morning before school Caroline was pretty sluggish.  Honestly I thought that maybe the weekend trip had caught up with her.  She wasn't feeling great, said she was tired but no fever.  By 9:15 she emailed me and said "PLEASE SIGN ME OUT!"  So we did.  I called her once she got home and asked her what had changed.  She said her head was thumbing, she couldn't stay awake  and she just felt crummy.  Thankfully Dr. Elder could see her right after lunch.

When I came home after work, I found her sound asleep in the chair.  Poor thing couldn't lay in her bed because her head hurt so bad.  I let her sleep another hour before we left for her appointment.  Once we got in a room, I knew she didn't feel well because she didn't want her phone, she just wanted to lay down.

The nurse asked about symptom's...Caroline said her ears, her head, tired...She asked about any fever to which I said no and the nurse replied "Well it's 103 now!"  Way to go Momma...They swabbed for COVID and Flu, which were both negative.  So after looking at her ears and listening to her lungs, which were clear, she was diagnosed with a severe sinus infection.

We left the Drs office.  Anytime the girls get shots or get swabbed, I always get them a treat, usually at Sonic.  I asked Caroline what she wanted and all she wanted was a Sonic slushy.  While I absolutely hate to see her so sick,  it was so nice to be needed.  She was like a little girls again, needing me to take care of her.  She was so kind and appreciative of everything I did.  It was truly a gift.  Now here's to hoping the meds kick in soon and my baby girl feels better quickly!

Daddy Daughter Date Weekend...they're ready to RUMBLE!

Last Fall, Caroline mentioned that she would LOVE for her and Andy to go to the WWE Royal Rumble in Indianapolis, Indiana.  We didn't think she was serious so we didn't put much stock in it.  When we started writing our Christmas lists, she said the only thing she wanted was for and Andy to go to the Royal Rumble.  At that point, we realized this was really something she wanted to do and something that we needed to make happen.  So we booked the hotel and airfare and bought the tickets.  Then began the countdown...they were so excited.  I was a little teary when I dropped them off.  I was leaving half of my heart at the airport ready to board a plane.

Thankfully Caroline loved flying, said it might be her new hobby.  They made all their boarding times and made it safely to the hotel.

Once on the ground in Indianapolis, they got checked into their hotel, changed into warmer clothes and walked downtown to dinner.  They found a yummy mom and pop Italian restaurant and enjoyed a delicious dinner.

Saturday morning, they got up early and got breakfast at Panera.  Caroline wanted to do some shopping downtown but most of the stores didn't open until 11:00.  So she managed to find a few new tops, which she was really happy about.
Time for the big event...with 65,000 of their favorite friends, fans and wrestling family!

Charlotte Flair won the ladies event and Cody Rhodes won the mens event.  Both made them very happy.
They left the hotel this morning at 5:30 to head to the airport for an early morning departure.  I asked Caroline if flying was still her favorite hobby and she said "let me get breakfast before I answer."  I was SO SO SO thankful to see their plane land and she them step off!!
Mags made a welcome home sign for them and our friend Mrs. Lori who was also on their flight!

We were so thankful for them to go but so thankful to see them come home.  Tonight as I said goodnight to everyone, I was SO grateful to have us all under one roof again!

Mags and Me

With Andy and Caroline out of town, Mags and I have enjoyed our time together.  Last night Mags had a sleepover with her sweet friend Ava.  We planned to go to Sam's for dinner but the club was closed so we had to come up with plan B.  We got mac n cheese to bake when we got home.  While looking for dinner, we stumbled upon the pj section...the girls NEEDED matching pj's for their sleepover. The finally found the two sizes they needed and were so excited.  They watched movies, painted nails and giggled a lot.  I managed to talk them into turning in early around 10:45.

They slept in until around 8, which I was impressed.  They then made pancakes and sausage for breakfast.  After breakfast, they played volleyball outside and did hair and make up.  Once Ava went home, we met Aunt Tomi Jean for lunch and then went dress shopping for the father daughter dance.  We shopped for about 3 hours and Maggie said she was ready to go home...a girl after my own heart!

Tonight we watched a movie and ate Zaxby's.  Maggie has told me several times today that "this is the best day ever!"  It wasn't anything special but it was just what we both needed.
