Girls Weekend

Thanks to Andy and my Mom I got away this weekend to spend some much needed girl time with two of my favorite girls.  Lia and Sage both left town to follow their hubby's to seminary.  They live in the same town now but we sure do miss them here.  We get to see each other at New Years and maybe one other time throughout the year if we are lucky.  Last year we headed to the beach for a girls weekend and it was so much fun we decided to plan another trip this year.  It was a gorgeous weekend and I was so thankful to spend this time with these ladies!  We ate dinner out one evening and prepared our other meals at home the rest of the trip.  We stayed in our PJ's until noon on Saturday and it was heavenly!!  We enjoyed about 5 hours on the beach which was amazing!!  The clouds were behind us but there were blue skies in front of us.  There was a cool breeze and therefore we never got hot.

Saturday night we had big plans to go to a movie after dinner but that never happened.  So we decided to change back into our PJ's and watch movies.  We were up early Sunday morning for church and the trip back home.  I can't say enough what a wonderful blessing this was to me...a time of refreshment...ready to get back home and continue to be wife and mommy.
It's funny we all carried a book to the beach but NEVER read them...

Maggie's Fun Ones Home Visit

We are super excited to have Maggie at school with me in our Fun Ones program.  It will be so nice to have her on the same schedule as me and at the same drop off, pick up.  Her teacher Mrs. Teresa came by to visit today.  She was so excited to play with Mrs. Teresa.  I hope they are ready for this silly, crazy little bundle!!!!!!

What this girl is up to...

This kid is still in LOVE with our phones.  She knows which button to push to make it "talk."  She has also mastered the little pink chair and loves to sit in it.
Her new favorite thing to do is BUCKLE any buckle she can find.  She will sit for 30 minutes or more playing with them.  She knows how to buckle them but doesn't know how to unbuckle.  She will grunt or scream and then sign please for us to unbuckle it and she goes back at it.

Otis and Maggie

Otis pretty much puts up with all of Maggie's craziness because he knows it's in his best interest...cause Maggie often makes a little bit of a mess when she eats and she doesn't mind sharing her food with him! :-)

Sweet C

The other day I was trying on different outfits with different shoes.  This little fashionista was in the room with me.  She was giving me her opinion.  She told me "Mommy, those shoes do not work with that dress...they just don't look right."  Then she saw me hop up on the side of the bathtub because that is the best place to see fully how you look.  She said "how do you do that?"  Then she followed and was having a blast!
This one never ceases to amaze me...she told me that she didn't need me to walk her in to school on the first day because that is what safety patrols are for...ummm, not on the first day sister!

First Day of First Grade

Of course about two weeks ago the girls began sleeping pass 7 o'clock...just in time for us to start back to school right! :-)  Needless to say Caroline wasn't thrilled when I went in to wake her up this morning.

She requested pancakes, bacon and sausage for breakfast.
She has kept the horse theme...she wants to be a horse trainer when she grows up.
Maggie saw something exciting, surely not the camera...
This one...she melts my heart a little more each day...she's such a sweet little, tenderhearted, compassion little lady.  SO thankful for her!
Thankful she loves the Lord and her little sister.  Thankful for each season with her.
Can't believe she is starting first grade...
Andy met us and walked with us to Caroline's class.
We are already in LOVE with this sweet lady!!  So thankful that we get to spend the next 3 years with her!!!!
Look out first grade...here she comes!!!!!!

End of summer FUN with Friends!!

Today we did something we don't do often...we took a spontaneous trip to the beach.  We left straight from church, grabbed lunch on the go and made the trip to the beach.  I honestly have 100 things that I need to do before we leave for school tomorrow but oh well...we had a blast!  It was the PERFECT way to spend the last day of summer vacation!!

Maggie loved being able to walk on the beach and walked everywhere!

Sam and Maggie enjoyed helping Andy fill the bucket with sand and loved knocking it down once Andy turned it over.
Maggie took off with this basket and had the MOST fun.  Folks around us where laughing watching her...She was a little off balance a time or two but oh so fun!

Thankful for my sweet family and fun days like today!

Fun in a Box

The other day Caroline was playing with Maggie in baby jail and was laughing at her.  When I walked in I found Maggie attempting to get in the box.  So of course I grabbed my camera and watched her in action...she's a mess y'all!

Mommy/Daughter Day

Today Caroline and I had hair appointments, cause every girls needs to start school with a fresh cut right? :-)  We left Maggie at home with a sitter so that we could get our hair cut.  When we were on our way, Caroline said she was so excited for our girls day.  Her only wish was that we would have enough time to get our toes done, aka pedicure.  I was given a gift certificate at the end of the school year so I called to see if the sitter could stay a little longer until Andy got home.  She could and off we went.  It was SO fun to spend this time with this sweet girl.  She was so excited and was such a big girl!  Oh HOW I LOVE HER!!!!!!  These one on one days don't happen often so when they do I cherish them!  I love the little lady she is becoming and SO PROUD to call her mine!

Splash Pad Fun

Today I took the kids to the Splash Pad.  We haven't been to this particular one in maybe two years.  It's a little older and there isn't as much to do.  We got another splash pad about 30 minutes from our house that is much nicer.  However, I didn't have a ton of time to drive so we did this one.  The kids played and had fun but said they wish we could have gone to the other one.  Oh well...Maggie isn't a fan of water splashing or spraying her in her face.  Therefore she stayed around the edges of the area.
The good thing about this not being the only splash pad around anymore is that there was hardly anyone there.  I counted 13 kids and 4 were with me!  Sure made keeping up with everyone a whole lot easier!

We sure will miss our Sissy...

I am thrilled about Caroline's new teacher.  She called earlier this week to see if I had any questions or concerns.  Caroline will be with her for the next 3 years!  So thankful the Lord answered our prayers in giving us this precious lady!

What I am not thrilled about is not having this sweet girl at home with us!  She is such a HUGE helper and Maggie ADORES her.  Caroline can get Maggie to do things that we can not!  We have LOVED every minute of lazy, non structured, no plans kind of days this summer.  I am thankful that I get to spend this time with both of my girls.  I feel like summer is a time to "reset" everything.  Slow down, enjoy the simple things...no schedules...oh.so.nice!

Good luck baby girl!  We will miss you but know you will do great things this year!

Small Group Social

So if we hadn't already had an action packed day...we decided to add a little more excitement to our evening.  After we got home from our family fun day yesterday, I unloaded the car, put the girls in fresh, dry bathing suits and headed out again.  Our small group, yes we still call it our group even though we don't attend regularly, had a pool party.  It was a gorgeous evening and since both girls napped really well on the way home, they were ready to go again.  (Mommy and Daddy may have been struggling just a little bit) It was fun to see everyone. Not too much catching up happens when chasing a 1 year old around the pool. :-)  So thankful for sweet friends to do life with during these crazy days!

Maggie has mastered steps and is oh so proud of herself!  She has also learned the art of drinking a juice box...add these two together and she is the happiest little party guest ever!
